John and Sally Cook of Lamarde Perro Rhodesian Ridgebacks sent this special boy to me in May 2008. He is everything I hoped he would be and so much more.

Due to circumstances, Sam was not shown much as a youngster, but he completed his championship very easily at about 3 years of age in limited showing, going BOB over top specials and earning a Group 2 placement. He went on to finish his GCh within a few months and was shown at the Westminster Kennel Club show when he was 4.

Sam and I trained for and successfully completed the Endurance Trial

Later the same day, Sam placed first in the 7-9 Veteran's Sweeps class under breeder judge Mike Patterson. It was Sam's first time competing in Vet Sweeps, and a great honor in a highly competitive class.

At the 2016 National Specialty under breeder judge Nancy Rich, Sam placed 4th in the Veteran Sweepstakes event. I am thrilled that he had great success in his two appearances in this class at the National. Sam completed the Endurance Trial for the second time in OH, as well. He also passed the Therapy Dog International test.

At the 2018 National Specialty in Loveland, CO, judge Paula Nykiel honored Sam with a first place in a very competitive 9-11 Veteran Dog class and went on to compete for Best Veteran. This was Sam's third appearance at a National Specialty as a veteran - with a win or placement at all three.

He is retired from the show ring, but is shown in veteran sweeps and sometimes in BOB on special occasions.

Sam's health clearances are available on the OFA site that is linked above. He has tested clear for the RR Inherited Ventricular Arrythmia gene. In addition, he has tested clear for both the Hemophilia B

(ET) at the 2015 Rhodesian Ridgeback National Speciaty. The ET is a 12mile run completed in 3, 4 mile segments.

(Rhodesian Ridgeback Type) and Juvenile Myoclonic (Rhodesian Ridgeback Type) gene. He is a DM and EOAD carrier. He does not carry for liver nose.
